Terms of reading

The terms on which these pages are read

This page states the limits of The Dividend Desk: what it measures, what it cannot do, and how it is paid. The figures describe published rates, not a recommendation. The reader decides alone.

Desk independence and advisory limits

The Dividend Desk is an independent editorial desk. It is not a broker, not an exchange, and not a licensed adviser. It holds no client money and accepts no orders. The figures it publishes are measurements of named public sources, read at a stated date and hour. A measurement is not a recommendation. Nothing on this site is investment advice, an offer, or a suggestion to buy or sell. The pages describe what things cost, not what a reader should do. The reader decides alone and is responsible for their own decision.

A dividend rate read from the text of the income tax convention between the United States and the Philippines is a legal fact, but its application to a particular holder depends on that holder's circumstances. The desk cannot know whether a reader is entitled to the treaty rate. The treaty rate applies only to a holder who has filed the required form with the broker. The desk does not ask for that information and does not want it. The reader must check their own position with the broker or a licensed adviser.

A published convention, not a summary

The subject of this site is one measurement, taken from named public sources and republished with the date and the hour it was read. Rates are read from the text of the income tax convention between the United States and the Philippines as published by the US tax authority. Peso amounts are recalculated at an exchange rate taken from two independent sources at every reading. The sources are named under every table, with a link, so a reader can check the figure at its publisher. The desk reads the enacted text of the convention, not an explanatory memorandum or a summary.

The measurement carries the limits of its sources. A published tax convention can be amended or reinterpreted, and an exchange rate is a moving price. The desk records what the source said at the moment of reading. It does not predict what the source will say tomorrow. A reader comparing a figure on this site with a broker's calculation should use the linked source, not memory. The desk corrects a figure that is wrong and dates the correction.

Editorial desk and corrections

Responsibility for the figures sits with the publication's editorial desk: The Dividend Desk research desk. The desk reads the sources, records the rates and the exchange rates, and answers corrections. No individual author is named, because the measurement is the work of the desk as a whole. A named author would suggest a personal opinion, and these pages carry none. The desk is not a person and holds no credentials beyond the accuracy of its readings.

Writing to the address on the contact page reaches the desk. Corrections are the reason the address exists. A figure that is wrong is corrected, and the correction is dated. A reader who finds a discrepancy should write to [email protected] with the source and the date of reading. The desk will check the figure against its source and correct it if necessary. The correction is shown on the same page, not hidden in a log.

Affiliate Link and Broker Commission

The site links to one broker, FxPro, through an affiliate link. If a reader opens an account there, the desk is paid a commission. The reader pays nothing to this site and nothing extra at the broker. The affiliate relationship is stated on this page and on the page about the publisher. The link is marked as an affiliate link. No other broker is linked, and no other payment is accepted. The desk does not sell advertising or accept sponsored content.

The broker's own site is operated by someone else, under its own terms and its own privacy policy. Following the link leaves this site. The desk has no control over the broker's site, its offers, or its handling of personal data. A reader who opens an account there has a relationship with the broker, not with The Dividend Desk. The desk does not see the reader's account, does not hold the reader's money, and does not answer for the broker's actions.

No tracking or data collection

The site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no comment form. It sets no cookie of its own, runs no analytics and stores nothing in the reader's browser. The pages are served by a hosting provider which, like any web host, keeps its own technical request logs. The site's publisher does not read a reader's personal data out of them. The desk does not collect names, email addresses, or any other identifier.

A reader who writes to the desk sends an email, which is stored by the email provider under that provider's terms. The desk uses the email only to answer the question or correct a figure. It does not add the address to a list, because no list exists. The desk does not share the address with the broker or with anyone else. The only personal data the desk ever sees is what a reader chooses to put in an email.

Advisory limits of the desk

The desk cannot tell a reader whether to buy, sell, or hold. It cannot say whether a dividend is worth receiving or whether a particular broker is suitable. It cannot calculate a reader's tax position, because it does not know the reader's residency, filing status, or other income. It cannot apply the treaty rate to a reader's account, because that is the broker's job after the reader files the required form. It cannot estimate future rates, because it measures only what has been published.

The desk cannot answer for the broker's site, its fees, or its service. It cannot mediate a dispute between a reader and the broker. It cannot recover money, cancel an order, or change a form. It cannot advise on Philippine tax law or US tax law beyond the text of the convention. A reader who needs advice should ask a licensed adviser in the Philippines or in the United States, as applicable.

The terms in one sentence

The Dividend Desk measures and republishes published rates, names its sources, corrects its errors, and is paid only by an affiliate commission from one broker, while the reader decides alone and bears the consequences of that decision. These terms apply to every page on this site.

If a reader does not accept these terms, the remedy is to leave the site. The desk does not ask for agreement, because it does not track visitors. Reading a page does not create any relationship between the reader and the desk. The only relationship arises if the reader writes to the desk, and then only for the purpose of answering that email. The desk publishes the figures for anyone to read, but it does not promise to be useful to any particular reader.
